Flipbook Animation (AEP0220232)
Animate Your Imagination, Page by Page: Join the Flipbook Revolution
Description
Flipbook Animation is a traditional animation technique where a series of hand-drawn images are arranged in sequence and rapidly flipped through to create the illusion of motion. Perfect for aspiring animators and art enthusiasts alike, this hands-on session explores the fundamentals of flipbook animation—a timeless technique that brings drawings to life through the magic of motion. Apart from witnessing the phenomenon of the persistence of vision, students will explore time and sequences to understand the different techniques used to affect audiences. These animation principles are planned specifically to bring the animation alive. Students will have the opportunities to create their very own flipbook to deliver a short animation. An idea for animation can be quickly tested using the flipbook technique. Advanced students may integrate their creations with the new media to produce a digital flipbook complete with messages, background music and sound effects, thus producing a full-fledged animation right on screen! Students will translate their flipbook into digital copy and stitch page by page using the frame by frame technique to output as a mini clip. Students will complete a A6 notebook size of flipbook and showcase their flipbook animation as a digital video copy to the class Outline: • History of Animation – Origin, Early Devices, Motion Picture & Walt Disney • Background information on flipbook animation • Various techniques and principles of flipbook animation – Squash & Stretch, Anticipation, Timing, Arcs, etc. • Learn to create the Thaumatrope (Bird in a Cage) • Scriptwriting and storyboarding • Draw out their stories page by page. • Transfer drawings into computer by scanning • Editing and adding sound and text
